Project Description

The BLM has determined that temporary closure of the affected land is necessary to conduct safe, efficient, and successful wild horse gather operations while ensuring humane care and treatment of all animals gathered. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is conducting a wild horse drive trap gather within the Moriah Herd Area, located about 50 miles northeast of Ely in White Pine County, Nevada. In coordination with the gather, BLM is proposing to close public lands within the Moriah HA pursuant to the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (FLMPA), as amended, and 43 CFR §8364.1.
