Notice of Competitive Oil and Gas Internet Lease Sale June 2023
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Eastern States has posted a Notice of Sale for oil and gas leases of four parcels totaling 128.810 acres in Louisiana and Michigan. The 40-acre Michigan parcel is located in Kalamazoo County.
Copies of the Notice of Oil and Gas Lease Sale can be viewed online by clicking on the "Documents" link on the left side of this webpage, as well as on the National Fluids Lease Sale System website, https://nflss.blm.gov/. The Notice of Sale can also be viewed in person on the first floor lobby at the BLM Eastern States Northeastern States District Office located at 626 E. Wisconsin Ave., in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Under regulation 43 CFR 3120.1-3, an individual can protest the inclusion of a parcel listed in the sale notice. All protests must be received no later than 4:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time on June 14, 2023. Instructions for filing a protest to the lease sale parcels can be found within the sale notice.
The online oil and gas lease sale will occur June 29, 2023 at https://www.energynet.com/, beginning at 11:00 am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)/10:00 am Central Daylight Time (CDT).

The public comment period closed on April 10, 2023.
Public Comment Period Now Open
The public comment period opens on March 10, 2023 and will
close at 11:59 Mountain Time on Monday, April 10. If you would like to comment
on the environmental assessment or unsigned finding of no significant impact
(FONSI), please click on the 'Participate Now' link on the left side of the
homepage.
Only substantive comments will be considered,
and all comments must be submitted through ePlanning. Email and mailed comment
letters will not be considered. A substantive comment provides new
information about the Proposed Action, or presents other alternatives for
analysis; identifies a different way to meet the need; points out a specific
flaw in the analysis; suggests alternate methodologies and the reason(s) why
they should be used; makes factual corrections, or identifies a different
source of credible research which, if used in the analysis, could result in
different effects.

The proposed lease submitted by the nominator is subject to BLM conditions,
stipulations, and/or terms. The proposed lease would provide the lessee
exclusive rights to explore and develop oil and gas reserves on the lease but
does not in itself authorize surface disturbing activities.
The
proposed lease is being considered for sale in the June 2023 Competitive Online
Oil and Gas Lease Sale; however, if the parcel is not included on the sale, or
the sale is postponed, the parcel may be listed on a later sale date.
