Project Description

This Resource Management Plan (RMP) has been prepared to guide management of 1,400,000 acres of public lands within the Safford District (southeastern Arizona.)  

Please note the following:
1) Due to redistricting of administrative boundaries since approval, the Safford District RMP (a) does not fully cover lands within the current Safford Field Office boundary, and (b) does address some public lands now managed within the Tucson Field Office boundary.
2) The Safford District RMP incorporates by reference (a) Upper Gila-San Simon Grazing Environmental Statement (1978), and (b) Eastern Arizona Grazing EIS (1987).
3) The RMP has been amended by the following:
     Restoration Design Energy Project EIS ROD & RMPA (2013)
     Solar PEIS ROD (2012)
     Section 368 West-wide Energy Corridors EIS ROD (2009)
     Geothermal PEIS ROD (2008)
     Arizona Statewide Land Use Plan Amendment for Fire, Fuels, and Air Quality Management  and ROD  (2004)
     Ray Land Exchange EIS/LUPA ROD (2000)
     Decision Record for the Statewide Land Use Plan Amendment for Implementation of Arizona Standards for Rangeland Health and Guidelines for Grazing Administration EA (1997)
     Decision Record for the Land Tenure Amendment to the Safford District RMP (1994)

Public lands within the northern portion of the Safford Field Office boundary is managed in accordance with the Phoenix RMP.
