Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ukiah Field Office (UKFO) proposes to issue a Special Recreation Permit (SRP) authorizing a commercial, competitive equestrian endurance event within the Cache Creek Management Area, adjacent to the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument (BSMNM) in Lake and Colusa Counties, California. The event is scheduled for May 1–2, with participant check-in occurring on May 1 and competition on May 2.
The location and general scope of the proposed event were largely analyzed under the original Environmental Assessment (EA), NEPA Document LL-CAC-0500-09-009. A subsequent Determination of NEPA Adequacy (DNA), DOI-BLM-CA-C050-2023-0003, evaluated minor improvements to the trail system to reflect current conditions and management practices. The proposed action is identical to the most recent DNA in terms of trail alignment and operating plan. No new routes or operational changes are proposed beyond what was previously reviewed and deemed adequate under NEPA.
