Project Description

What's New

How to Participate in the Draft EA Comment Period:  Comments are welcome from U.S. citizens.  To leave a comment on the public draft Environmental Assessment, click the blue Participate Now button at the top of the page and enter your written comments in English.

The comment period ends July 29 at midnight, Mountain daylight time (UTC-6).

How to Provide a Substantive Comment:  The most effective public comments will contain substantive new facts, analysis, and/or sources that bring new information for the agency to consider.  BLM uses public comments to improve the agency's analysis, correct errors, and identify reasonable alternatives.  Public comments are not a voting process: agency decisions do not rely upon the number of comments for or against a particular project.  Instead, decisions are based on law, regulation, policy, and the analysis of environmental effects.

Effective comments will provide information the agency can act on, such as:

  • Missing data or corrections
  • Local knowledge of resources and uses
  • Specific analytical gaps
  • Reasonable alternatives or mitigation
  • Literature or references the agency can cite (e.g. studies, inventories, cultural resource documentation)
