Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Lower Sonoran Field Office (LSFO) is proposing to acquire 477.31 acres known as Lower Gila Terrace (Property). The Property is situated approximately 58 miles southwest of Phoenix, in Maricopa County. The action will be conducted through a purchase authority granted by Section 205 of the Federal land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA) of October 21, 1976, as amended, and the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 (LWCF), as amended.
In April 2022, the BLM, Arizona State Office, responded to a Washington Office request for LWCF proposals by submitting an acquisition package from the BLM, LSFO, for the Property. In 2024, the Arizona State Office was notified that they were approved for fiscal year 2024 LWCF (Core Component) funding in the amount of $2,500,000.00 to be used for the acquisition of the Property.
