Thank you for your interest in the Hult Reservoir and Dam Safety Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). As the owner of the dam, the BLM has a responsibility to the people and property downstream as well as to the users of the reservoir. The dam is aging, and the likelihood of failure is increasing.

 The Bureau of Land Management prepared a draft EIS to examine proposals for reducing the safety risk to the town of Horton and the surrounding area. The draft EIS was available for public review between October 20th and December 7th, 2023. The BLM received 35 letters commenting on the draft.  The BLM has reviewed all of the comment letters and prepared a final EIS in response.

The Final EIS was published on July 26 2024 and a Record of Decision has been signed on January 16 2025.
