7/2/2026: The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has opened a 30-day public scoping period to receive public input on 50 oil and gas parcels totaling approximately 36,000 acres that may be included in a December 2026 lease sale in California. The scoping period ends August 1st, 2026.

8/21/2026: The BLM Central California District has opened a 30-day public comment period on a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Signficant Impact (FONSI) for a proposed December 2026 Lease Sale. The EA analyzes potential environmental impacts of leasing 44* proposed oil and gas parcels totaling approximately 36,000 acres in California. The comment period will end on Septermber 20th, 2026. *Please note: During scoping, several adjacent parcels were combined, resulting in 44 parcels instead of 50 parcels.
