Project Description

The Indian Peaks Watershed Restoration Plan includes approximately 560,000 acres of BLM land within the Hamlin Valley, Pine Valley, and across the Needles Range, of the Cedar City Field Office (CCFO). The objectives of the proposed project include reducing pinyon pine and juniper encroachment into sagebrush and mountain shrub communities, improving forest health in ponderosa pine, mixed conifer, and aspen stands, reducing invasive annual grasses and restoring native forbs, grasses, and shrubs in historic shrubland and grassland areas. Proposed treatments include prescribed fire, mechanical, manual, seeding, and herbicide vegetation treatment methods.

What's New

April 27, 2026- The BLM has published geospatial data for the Indian Peak project at the following link: Index of /public/incident_specific_data/great_basin/local_unit_map/UT_CPD/FuelsMaps.

April 2, 2026- The BLM has added Appendix A, I, and J to the Final Appendices tab on ePlanning. The addition of these final documents marks the beginning of the 30-day appeal period.

April 1, 2026- The BLM Issues A Final Decision on the Indian Peak Range Watershed Restoration Plan

The Cedar City Field Office has issued a final decision on the Indian Peak Range Watershed Restoration Plan. The Final EA and associated appendices, Finding of No Significant Impact, and Decision Record can be found in the Documents tab.
