The November 29, 2022
version of the Derbychain Fuels Reduction Determination of NEPA Adequacy contained a typographical error in the first paragraph on page 5 of the
DNA. The December 13, 2022
version corrects the word commercial to non-commercial, as
originally intended and consistent with the rest of the document’s language
specifying the project includes only non-commercial treatments. The updated
sentence now reads as follows (change in bold):
“Activities authorized under a modified
Alternative C and in this Project include the following: non-commercial
treatments, small diameter thinning, and prescribed fire.”
This corrected DNA version has no other
changes from the version published on November 29, 2022. The Decision Record,
which correctly stated the project contains only non-commercial treatments,
remains unchanged, including appeal periods.
The Determination of NEPA Adequacy has been completed and the Decision Record has been signed on 11/29/2022.

The proposed Derbychain Fuels Reduction Project is a hazardous fuels reduction project on BLM-administered lands in portions of the Big Butte Creek and Little Butte Creek watersheds in Jackson County, Oregon. The project is located roughly three miles west of the town of Butte Falls, south of the Butte Falls Highway between Derby Road and Obenchain Road. The BLM has identified approximately 1,904-acres to consider for these treatments.
The Derbychain Fuels Reduction Project will be designed to reduce natural hazardous fuels on specific BLM lands to accomplish one or more of the following:
•Reduce potential fire behavior (e.g., crown fire activity, wildfire spread, and intensity).
•Reduce potential fire severity.
•Modify the fuel profile (e.g., raise canopy base heights or reduce surface and ladderfuels and crown bulk density).
