Project Description

The proposed action is to lease EOIs ES2105, ES13789 Pt. 2, and ES13793, which consists of 3 EOI parcels totaling 1,293 acres on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service, Homochitto National Forest (HNF), Homochitto Ranger District (Appendix A, Figures 1 to 3).

The proposed leases submitted by nominators is subject to USDA Forest Service conditions, stipulations, and/or terms. The proposed leases would provide the lessee exclusive rights to explore and develop oil and gas reserves on the leases, but does not in itself authorize surface disturbing activities.

The proposed leases are being considered for sale in a future Competitive Online Oil and Gas Lease Sale; however, if some or all of the parcels are not included on the sale, or the sale is postponed, parcels may be listed on a later sale date.

What's New

The BLM deferred the parcels from the First Quarter 2022 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale due to ongoing discussion between the two agencies regarding air quality analysis as required under NEPA.
