Project Description

What's New

The Coos Bay BLM, Myrtlewood Field Office, has completed the Lost Horse DNA and has signed a decision to authorize the timer sales included in the DNA - Horsepower CT, Burnt Tioga CT, Lost and Forgotten CT, and Hairy Scary CT.

The DNA project proposal, associated with the Coos Bay District BLM's Late-Successional (LSR) and Riparian Reserve (RR) Management EA (https://eplanning.blm.gov/Project-Home/?id=ed4789c8-a7f2-f011-8407-001dd803dca7), is to commercially thin previously managed and overly dense stands. The project includes 54individual timber sales, comprised of 30–80-year-old stands that contain approximately 90 percent even-aged conifer.

Sales are projected to occur in FY 2026-FY 2029 within Reserve Land Use Allocations (LSR and Outer Zone RR) to promote the development of multi-cohort stands and the enhancement of structural complexity/ heterogeneity and contribute to perennial stream RR goals.

This decision is appealable to IBLA until Monday September 14 at 4:30 PM.
