Project Description

The BLM proposes to fall, buck, and scale sample trees (otherwise known as sample tree falling) to ensure the accuracy of timber sale cruises for future forest management actions. The process assists the BLM in accurately calculating volumes and would also help the BLM develop models for volume equations. The proposed action would occur with any cruise design method, especially in timber sales that have been cruised using the 3-P cruising method, where there is a high degree of variability between the trees, or where the trees have a high amount of defect.
