Project Description

NV Energy proposes to construct, operate, maintain, and decommission up to a 150-MW solar PV power generating facility on approximately 660 acres of BLM-administered land located within Parcels 5 and 6 of the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone (SEZ) in Clark County, Nevada. A SEZ is defined by the BLM as an area that the BLM has determined is well suited for utility-scale production of solar energy and within which the BLM will prioritize and facilitate utility-scale production of solar energy and associated transmission infrastructure development.

Project components include on-site facilities, off-site facilities, and temporary facilities needed to construct the project. The major on-site facilities are comprised of solar array blocks of PV modules, a substation, and operation and maintenance (O&M) facilities. The off-site facilities include a 1,987.5-foot, 230-kilovolt (kV) generation tie transmission line (gen-tie line), access road, and electric distribution and communication lines. Temporary facilities, which would be removed at the end of the construction period, include mobilization, laydown, and construction areas. Power produced by the project would be conveyed to the Nevada Power bulk transmission system via the gen-tie line, which would interconnect to NV Energy’s existing Harry Allen Substation. 

All lands for the proposed facilities are federal lands administered by the BLM under the Las Vegas Resource Management Plan.
