Project Description

Rodatherm Energy Corporation (Roda) is proposing to construct, operate, and maintain a geothermal pilot project on Bureau of Land Management (BLM)–administered lands in Beaver and Millard County, Utah. This is a proposed commercial pilot project, which would determine if an advanced geothermal generation facility is commercially viable at this location. The proposed project would include developing two well pads, drilling and testing two closed looped geothermal wells, and access road construction. The Roda geothermal system is a fully isolated Organic Rankine cycle system that converts an underground heat source into mechanical energy that will be used to generate electrical power. The two closed looped geothermal wells will produce approximately 2 megawatts of power or 1 megawatt per well. Roda expects up to 5 total geothermal wells (2 input wells, 2 output wells and 1 turnaround well) will be drilled and tested from the 2 proposed well pads.

August 14-29, 2023 The Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft FONSI was released for a 15-day public comment period that closed on August 29, 2023. The BLM will be responding to substantive comments as defined in the BLM NEPA Handbook H-1790-1.
