February 20, 2024: BLM Ashland Field Office has withdrawn the December 28, 2023 decision. See documents tab for more information.
December 28, 2023: BLM Ashland Field Office has issued a signed Decision Record (DR) for the implementation of a commercial timber harvest based off of the NEPA completed for the Bear Grub Vegetation Management Project EA (FONSI signed November 3, 2023 (see below)). Posting of the DR on ePlanning begins the 30 day appeal period for this forest management project (see 43 CFR 1.3).You can find the documents in the "Document" tab on the left. The DR contains responses to comments received in the 2020 EA comment period and the 2023 EA comment period, referred to as Attachment 1 and Attachment 2.

3, 2023: BLM Ashland Field Office has issued a Finding of no Significant Impact
(FONSI) for the Bear Grub Vegetation Management Project EA and has issued signed Decision Record (DR) to implement the Hazardous Fuels
Reduction treatments with an implementation date of two weeks from November 3, 2023, the
day of posting of the decision on ePlanning. You can find the documents in the
"Document" tab on the left. The DR contains responses to comments
received in the 2020 EA comment period and the 2023 EA comment period, referred
to as Attachment 1 and Attachment 2. The EA accompanying the FONSI and DR
contains small revisions identified in blue bold.
June 23, 2023: The BLM Ashland Field Office has extended the comment period for the revised Bear Grub Environmental Assessment to July 9th, 2023 to ensure the public has adequate time to review the changes to the document. Please submit comments by July 9 with Bear Grub in the comment heading.
June 8, 2023: The BLM Ashland Field Office has released a revised Bear Grub Vegetation Management Project Environment Assessment and Appendices. The 2023 EA contains revisions to the 2020 Bear Grub VMP EA whose Decision Record BLM signed October 1, 2020, and subsequently rescinded. The BLM identified the need to incorporate additional issues and new information based on recent judgments, changes in resource status, updated information, language to improve clarity, and responses to public input, and has identified additions to the EA using a different font (the font used in this paragraph).The BLM is seeking public comments on the Bear Grub Vegetation Management Project 2023 Environmental Assessment. Please submit comments by June 26, 2023.
