Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Moab Field Office (MFO) received ten new applications for Special Recreation Permits (SRPs) and three requests for SRP augmentation from existing SRP holders.  

New SRP Applications: 
Sun City Grand Hiking Club submitted an SRP application to offer guided hiking tours at Grandstaff Canyon, Corona Arch/Bowtie Arch, and Fisher Towers designated hiking trails. 

Sportsmens’ Hunting Adventures submitted an SRP application to offer guided hunts on MFO hunting units (excluding in the Cottonwood Diamond ACEC) 

Bishoff Adventure Consultancy submitted an SRP application to offer tours on designated hiking and biking trails and on Jeep Safari routes. 

Silver Sage Outfitters submitted an SRP application to offer guided hunts in MFO hunting units (excluding in the Cottonwood Diamond ACEC). 

Trails Diverged submitted an SRP application to offer guided hiking tours and retreats on the Professor Creek, Moonflower, Monitor and Merrimac, Mill Canyon Dinosaur, Hidden Valley, Grandstaff, Corona Arch and Copper Ridge Dinosaur trails. 

Lonetree Outfitters submitted an SRP application to offer guided hunts in MFO hunting units (excluding in the Cottonwood-Diamond ACEC). 

Mahoosuc Guide Services submitted an SRP application to offer guided river trips in Labyrinth Canyon on the Green River.  

Tahoe Expedition Academy submitted an SRP application to offer guided river trips in Labyrinth Canyon on the Green River. 

Gallant Wind Guiding submitted an SRP application to offer canyoneering and climbing tours at Moonflower, Bow and Arrow, Medieval Chamber, Granary, Pool Arch and on Wall Street. 

Blue Juniper Practice submitted an SRP application to offer guided hiking and mountain biking on approved routes in the MFO.  The locations include Moonflower, Grandstaff, Bar M, Sand Flats, Hidden Valley and Mud Springs. 

Moab Arabesque aka Aerial Arts Moab LLC submitted an SRP application to offer aerial silking workshops at four approved locations in the MFO.  The locations are Uranium Arch, Looking Glass Arch, Picture Frame Arch and Mineral Canyon Arch (approved for use from September 1 through January 31). 

SRP Augmentations: 

Red Rock 4-Wheelers requested an SRP augmentation to add five designated roads (totaling approximately 2.76 miles in length) to the list of approved roads for Easter Jeep Safari. The mileage is on the Seven Mile Rim route, the Behind the Rocks route and the Metal Masher route. These routes would be added to permits #MFO-Y010-23-001R and #MFO-Y010-23-002R which both expire on December 31, 2032. All stipulations that apply to the use of Jeep Safari routes would also apply to this added mileage. See maps in Attachment 2. 

Durango Rivertrippers requested an SRP augmentation to add river trips in Labyrinth Canyon of the Green River to the list of authorized locations under permit #MFO-Y010-21-120R, which expires on December 31, 2030. 

The Mountain Guides (JHMG) requested an SRP augmentation to add Bow and Arrow and ZigZag/Sunseed to the list of authorized canyoneering routes under SRP #MFO-Y010-20-0011R. These two locations would be added to the list of approved locations for The Mountain Guides; the SRP expires on December 31, 2029.  

Under the Proposed Action, the MFO would authorize ten new SRPs and three SRP augmentations. The SRP General Terms and Conditions, BLM Utah Statewide Stipulations, and MFO activity and resource specific stipulations would be included with each permit.
