Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Eastern States Office (ESO) conducts competitive sales to lease available federal oil and gas parcels underlying public and private lands. An interested party such as a private individual or company may file an Expression of Interest (EOI) to nominate parcels for competitive bid and leasing by the BLM. The BLM ESO has received EOIs nominating two parcels totaling 80 acres of federal mineral estate for potential future oil and gas development. A table that identifies the EOIs can be found in the “What’s New” section. The nominated parcels are in Jackson County, Michigan. The ESO intends to hold a competitive bid lease sale for these parcels in March 2027.

What's New

Today, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has opened a public scoping period to receive public input on two oil and gas parcels totaling 80 acres that may be included in a March 2027 lease sale. The scoping comment period ends at 11:59 pm Mountain time on July 22, 2026. Should you experience any errors or issues while submitting your comment, you may alternatively submit your comment on or before the deadline on July 22, 2026 by email to Donna Charleston at [email protected].

This public scoping period is to solicit comments on the nominated parcels only. This does not include any further action as there are only nominated parcels that could go up for the BLM lease sale in March 2027.
