Project Description

This lease sale was held in March 2019. Following the sale, the BLM deferred leasing of parcels from the FFO and RPFO pending additional tribal consultation. In preparing to decide whether to issue the parcels, the BLM has been working to complete tribal consultation, update the NEPA analyses, and respond to protests received.

This environmental assessment (EA) documents the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Farmington Field Office (FFO) review of 14 parcels (5,859.02 acres) nominated for auction in the BLM FFO March 2019 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale (the Proposed Action).  It should be noted that the original March 2019 EA considered 22 parcels. Eight parcels (parcels 10-17) originally included in the Sale are no longer under consideration as the lessee did not respond when BLM inquired regarding updated terms and conditions. The nominated parcels still under consideration are in San Juan, Sandoval, and Rio Arriba Counties, New Mexico.
