Project Description

The BLM has signed the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument (Monument) Resource Management Plan (RMP).  The approved plan provides overall direction for management of all resources on the BLM-administered public land within the Monument.  The Monument is 5,255 acres, and is located in the southern third of the Robledo Mountains, approximately 10 miles northwest of the City of Las Cruces in Do�a Ana County.</p>

<p>The BLM prepared the plan in accordance with Presidential Proclamation 7318, establishing the Monument, and under the authority of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act, and other applicable laws.  This document contains broad land use plan decisions for the management of resources and resource uses within the Prehistoric Trackways planning area.</p>

<p>The BLM greatly appreciates all those who contributed to the completion of the Monument RMP.  The public’s extensive interest and involvement in this planning effort has ensured that the RMP is of substantial quality, and will provide for the continued use and enjoyment of public land and resources by present and future generations.</p>

<p>Unlike land use planning decisions, RMP implementation decisions are not subject to protest under the BLM planning regulations. Rather they are subject to an administrative review and appeals process, through the Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA), Interior Board of Land Appeals (IBLA), pursuant to 43 CFR, Part 4 Subpart E.</p>

The Record of Decision for the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument Resource Management Plan (RMP) was signed on November 5, 2015. The Approved RMP is available for download under the "Documents and Reports" link.
