Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is proposing to authorize the installation, six troughs, 3.3 miles of pipeline, and 0.36 miles of primitive access routes with associated development design structures within the North Alkali Lake (formerly part of the Alkali Lake Common pasture) and Ryegrass Pastures of the Alkali Winter Allotment (#01001) (Attachment 1 – Maps). Alkali Winter and East Wagontire Water Developments Environmental Assessment (DOI-BLM-ORWA-L050-2024-0004-EA; referred to in this document as “Alkali Winter EA”; BLM 2025a) already analyzed the burying of 2.7 miles of pipeline, installation of 4 troughs, installation of 1 well, and formation of 0.36 miles of primitive routes for access during construction in Alternative 2 – Proposed Action (BLM 2025a, p. 6-8, Table 2). This new proposed action is in the same analysis area and would install 3.3 miles of pipeline (instead of 2.7 miles) and 6 troughs (instead of 4 troughs).
