About the Safford District RMP
The planning project is complete.  The Records of Decision were signed September 1992 and July 1994.


The Safford District Resource Management Plan (RMP) guides management of 1,400,000 acres of public lands within the Safford District (southeastern Arizona.)  It fully encompasses Graham, Greenlee, and Cochise counties, and encompasses portions of Gila, Pima, and Pinal counties.

Please note the following:
1) Due to redistricting of administrative boundaries since approval, the Safford District RMP (a) does not cover all BLM-administered lands within the current
     Safford Field Office, and (b) addresses some public lands now managed by the Tucson Field Office.
2) The Safford District RMP incorporates by reference (a) Upper Gila-San Simon Grazing Environmental Statement (BLM 1978), and (b) Eastern
     Arizona Grazing EIS (BLM 1987).
3) The RMP has been amended by the following:
      -  Restoration Design Energy Project EIS ROD & RMPA (2013)
        -  Solar Programmatic EIS Record of Decision (ROD) (BLM 2012)
        -  Section 368 West-wide Energy Corridors EIS ROD (2009)
        -  Geothermal PEIS ROD (BLM 2008)
        -  Arizona Statewide Land Use Plan Amendment for Fire, Fuels, and Air Quality Management and ROD (BLM 2004)
        -  Statewide Land Use Plan Amendment for Implementation of Arizona Standards for Rangeland Health and Guidelines for Grazing
            Administration EA Decision Record (BLM 1997)
        -  Land Tenure Amendment to the Safford District RMP Decision Record (BLM 1994)
 
Public lands within the northern portion of the Safford Field Office are managed in accordance with the Phoenix RMP.
