Background Info
The BLM, in coordination with the Manti La Sal and Fishlake National Forests, has prepared an environmental assessment in consideration of an application to modify coal leases UTU-84102 and U-63214, held by Canyon Fuel Company. These modifications could result in the underground mining of approximately 6.25 million tons of coal in approximately 790 acres of federal coal lands. No new surface facilities are proposed nor are any surface disturbances foreseen.
Public comments were accepted regarding this environmental assessment for 30 calendar days from June 13, 2018 through July 13, 2018. A decision record and finding of no significant impact were signed on February 14, 2019
